Julien Rasquinet’s path into perfumery reads like a serendipitous tale made from a mix of creativity and pure chance. Raised surrounded by art and expression, Julien was always a storyteller—just not through scent, at first. He painted, designed, and created, unknowingly laying the groundwork for his future. It wasn’t until fate—and his father—crossed paths with legendary perfumer Pierre Bourdon that Julien’s life took a fragrant twist. Bourdon saw something extraordinary in him and, against the odds, offered to train Julien as his final apprentice, turning an artist of visuals into an artist of scent.
Now, Julien crafts perfumes with a storyteller’s heart. He blends memories, encounters, and inspiration from the every day into olfactory masterpieces. Whether it’s translating the intensity of Middle Eastern perfumery or capturing fleeting moments from a book or song, Julien’s creations are sensory journeys.
SCENT IS MUSIC
He believes fragrance-making is similar to music-making—he jots down inspiration from life’s encounters, ready to bottle emotions and sensations…then he blends ingredients just like a musician would do to obtain something that sounds…or smells beautiful.
