Mathieu Nardin grew up in Grasse, surrounded by nature’s quiet magic. His love for perfumery took root early, carried on the breeze with the scent of fresh roses and jasmine picked in his grandparents’ fields. He learned quickly that a beautiful fragrance starts with respect for raw materials, for the land, and for the craft itself. From Grasse, his path led him to ISIPCA, then to Robertet, where he trained his nose with patience, discipline, and a whole lot of curiosity.
Today, Mathieu is part of a new wave of perfumers blending tradition with modernity. His versatility has earned him collaborations with some of the most respected names in the industry: Xerjoff, Kilian, Commodity, Marc Jacobs, Miller Harris, Molinard, Nobile 1942, O.P.S.O., Perris Monte Carlo, and Philosophy, to name a few.
INSPIRATION IS EVERYWHERE—IF YOU’RE PAYING ATTENTION
Mathieu always keeps a notebook close, ready to capture anything that sparks an idea: a glance, a memory, a passing comment, a place that feels like it has something to say. He’s drawn to citrus and soft florals, but has a real fascination with frankincense and labdanum, bold, complex materials that keep him on his toes. By the end of the day, his skin is covered in scent tests, and his mind is full of stories waiting to be told through fragrance.
